Why the office exists
Collectors often receive advice in fragments: a seller speaks to desirability, a valuer to a moment in the market, a conservator to material care, and a family member to memory. We help organise the question before those conversations begin. The aim is not to replace qualified specialists, but to make their input easier to compare and use.
02 · Editorial method
How we look and write
Our journal treats objects as evidence. We pay attention to construction, provenance, context, condition and the language used to sell significance. We also take emotional value seriously without confusing it with market value. Calm writing and precise records are central to the work.
03 · Long view
What useful work leaves behind
A finished brief should help with the next decision and remain understandable years later. That means dating assessments, naming sources, preserving uncertainty and recording personal intentions. A collection’s future depends as much on accessible information as on careful storage.
